In this class, Captain Zorikh combines effective sword techniques with the punches, kicks, and takedowns that are used in the modern sport of full-contact medieval armored combat. This workshop will set groundwork for an ongoing class in the techniques of this sport.

In the upcoming two-hour class will focus on one particular style of using a sword in modern medieval armored combat competition, striking all targets on the head and body, and will incorporate some broader concepts of sword fighting, basic punches, kicking, and grappling, and both offensive and defensive use of the shield. Fitness and drills will also be discussed.

The techniques you learn in this class were developed and are used in contemporary armored combat competitions. They can apply to several sword combat sports and games, whether they use foam, rattan, or steel.

Wear clothes you would be comfortable boxing in. We will be on mats, so be prepared to go barefoot or wear socks or wrestling shoes. bring boxing or MMA gloves if you have them.

If you have a wooden or plastic "waster" (practice sword) bring it, otherwise you may use one of ours. Batting gloves, fencing gloves, or street hockey gloves are optional. You will sweat, so bring a towel and water for yourself.

Supreme Team boxing & MMA is graciously hosting this workshop and has trained fighters for this sport. They are a well-equipped gym with fitness equipment, punching bags, lots of mat space, and a highly experienced staff.

Captain Zorikh has been competing in armored combat for over 30 years. He is an original member of the American team that fought twice at the Battle of the Nations and won the International Medieval Combat Federation world championship competition in Spain.
